Tour Description
The Turgene Waterfalls are one of the most visited tourist attractions in the Almaty region. They are located in a beautiful gorge in the Ile-Alatau National Park. There are 7 waterfalls in the Turgene Gorge. The most visited ones are the first "Medvezhiy" and the second "Kairak". The first waterfall (30 meters high) is situated in a picturesque spot among towering rocks. The rocks in the area are fractured by earthquakes and preserve the imprints of plants from the glacial period. 300 meters above the bridge, from which people usually go to the "Medvezhiy" waterfall, is the "source of beauty," a spring with delicious and cold spring water. The Kairak waterfall is located about 3 hours' walk from the forestry station. The height of the main flow is 40 meters, and if counting the total height with all the cascades, it is 74 meters. The gorge is also known for its relic Chyn-Turgene mossy fir forests that spread across the ground, forming a continuous carpet of fir trees.
The excursion to the Turgene Waterfalls is enriched by a visit to the Ostrich Farm and Trout Farm along the way.
